HONDA CB HORNET 160R

HONDA’s commitment about the 15 launches in 2015 were ended with CB HORNET 160 R, the remaining models were with some cosmetic upgrades and facelifts. This new motorcycle has some fresh looks and stands ahead with proper streetfighter shape. The power plant is carried over from the CB UNICORN 160, with some minimalistic tweaks in performance.

DESIGN

CB HORNET 160 R is positioned as a streetfighter with the naked design, bigger fat tyres, and single piece handle bar. The fuel tank is finished with carbon fiber as like finish which looks good and impressive! Overall the design shows that this is a perfect contender in sub 180 cc segment.

ENGINE

The heart of HORNET is from its sibling UNICORN, the same 160cc single cylinder air cooled engine. The powers figures has some slight changes, as this new HONDA belts out 15.6 breaking horses at 8500 RPM and an acceptable 14.7 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM. The ride quality is on the firm side and motor is vibe free.

TYRES

The tyre sizes are 100-section front and 140-section rear and these sizes are equals to the tyres those are present in YAMAHA R3, but R3 has radials and this isn’t.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

The instrument cluster are as same as the UNICORN 160 all digital which looks sporty and contains lots of details like odometer, trip meters, tachometer, fuel gauge and time are all standard. The sunlight visibility of cluster is good and easy to read even in noon.

BRAKES

The top variant of CB HORNET 160R comes equipped with an optional CBS braking system, front & rear disk brakes also with three piston front braking calipers. The standard base variant comes with drum brakes at rear and disk at front with normal two piston calipers

VERDICT

The CB HORNET 160R is a better offering from HONDA till date though the machine lags in some elements like no engine kill switch which is a basic feature in this segment, it is a fair deal in sub one lakh category. This is the best from Honda for youngsters who seeking for a sporty commuter or small street fighter.
